Living simply has a lot to do with giving yourself permission to say “no”. It means freeing ourselves from commitments and obligations that complicate life or interfere with what we really want to do. Identify one or two things or events that burden you and simply let it go…

By wanting – and sometimes, doing – less, we create more space for the things that really matter.

Practice saying “No” to things that don’t bring you inner peace and fulfillment, whether they are material goods, great career responsibility or added social activities. Be vigilant with your time and energy; they are limited resources. If you say “Yes” to one thing (like a job promotion), recognize that you are saying “No” to something else (perhaps more time with family). Live consciously and deliberately.
